Wax Infused Photographs
The encaustic images begin as a photograph printed on acid-free 100% cotton rag paper, as above. Then each is infused with hot beeswax, either painted or poured, and the wax is then manipulated by hand, can be painted with oil or watercolor paints, and gold leaf may be applied.
Michael has also developed a cold wax process incorporating wax medium and pigments applied to an image on an assortment of fine art papers.
Each piece is a unique work of art and priced individually.
Framing available on sizes up to 16×20 for shipment with glass, larger sizes will ship with acrylic or no glazing upon request. All materials used inside the frame are acid free. All of Michael’s framed pieces are glazed using only Tru Vue Conservation Clear Glass, blocking 97% UV rays with amazing clarity. Tru Vue Conservation Clear Acrylic is used on the very large pieces.
