Body in Motion

Body in Motion, celebrating the human form captured in movement, evolved from two seemingly unrelated events. One winter morning I found myself entranced by the predawn light, dancing across the high clouds, the changing pinks and blues of the coming sunrise, a visual ballet.

Shortly thereafter, while photographing a favorite model, I recalled the recent sunrise and began incorporating those elements of fluidity and muted palette into the work. We devoted countless sessions to exploring and experimenting with fabric color and texture, films, exposures and lighting, and movement.

The images were created in the studio with a 1978 Canon A1 35mm camera and various negative and transparency films.
